A snapshot in the conversations overheard at Serious Fun Art Studio ~
“Can you teach me to draw even though I didn’t inherit an artistic gene?”
“Look at all those furniture paint colors… I’m going to paint my grandmother’s hutch to update it!”
“So, you have a group of people in here and you teach them all to paint this picture step-by-step?”
“Our daughter loved having her painting party here. All her friends were really into the project!”
“I never knew watercolor would be this fun ~ I am impressed with the results from our class!”
“Oh, so that’s how they get that furniture finish. Much easier than it looks”
“Cool gift items, and those candles smell awesome”
“The painted floor is amazing! How creative.”
Ginger Myers has recently expanded her Art Studio, now on Fowler Ave. near Victorian Village in Temple Terrace. The studio features three zones:
a retail area in the front with unique gifts, art supplies, painted furniture, and an entire line of clay/chalk paint,
a middle zone with easels for drawing & painting classes and art gallery walls featuring local and national artists.
a large workshop in the back for furniture painting classes and custom commission work.
She offers Encaustic Weekend Workshops, which is painting with hot wax. These condensed sessions over 2 days get students launched into the expansive world of Encaustic Art. This medium is truly her passion and she loves teaching the shortcuts and nuances of Encaustic.
Also available by appointment, small group, and private parties are watercolor classes, French wire sculpture, DIY décor projects, and acrylic paint & pizza events. Her art studio is filled with artistic inspiration and welcoming to students of any level.
In 2017, there are several other instructors on board to teach workshops at Serious Fun Art Studio. Visit the SHOP section above for a schedule and details.
“It’s More Fun to Have Fun” is the Myers’ family motto, which is spilling over into Serious Fun Art Studio for others to embrace too. Ginger’s husband Jason has been a backbone in the Studio’s recent expansion, building worktables and assisting with displays setup. “He’s got a very creative eye himself, and you can see some of his original art here too! I couldn’t run this studio without his support… and muscle,” Ginger says.
Ginger’s art pursuit began in elementary school, formal training in college, and continuing education throughout her career. “In our ‘virtual’ culture, it’s great to step away from a computer, put pencil to paper or paint to canvas, and actually MAKE something you can touch and be proud of.” Her students are excited about not only what they learn to create but how they learn to see the world differently.
This specialty studio provides a space within our community to stretch creative wings, expand talents, buy unique gifts and original art, and connect with others.
